Kamadhenu Ventures Cambodia Ltd (KVCL)
Located in the Kratie Province, KVCL is built over 20,000 hectares at an investment of over $115 million USD. The plant is located on the banks of Meking River, 320 kms North of Phnom Penh. Kamadhenu Ventures Cambodia Ltd. (KVCL) is a subsidiary of Indo China Food Industries, Singapore. Therefore KVCL is an Indo-Vietnamese venture in Cambodia. Other stake holders at KVCL are Vina Capital Vietnam & Khattar Holdings Singapore, and ED&F Man, UK.
KVCL is one of the first foreign owned sugar factories to start production in Cambodia. KVCL produces high grade refined sugar from 10 to 80 ICUMSA, and with the by-products of the process, produces Ethanol and also generates its own electricity.
KVCL currently operates a 5,000 TCD Sugar unit. The unit generates 27MW power through cogeneration from its bagasse. And Ethanol is also produced, for the local and international markets. A 0 discharge plant, KVCL boasts of a state-of-the-art boiler and pollution control with Electro Static Preceptor, a first of its kind in Cambodia & Vietnam.
KVCL currently produces about 35,000 liters of Ethanol/day. The Ethanol is extracted from molasses, a by-product of the sugar manufacturing process. The alcohol generated is of industrial, beverage or super-refined grade, as per market demand.
KVCL employs over 400 Cambodians, Vietnamese and Indians at its facility. With a workforce from varied backgrounds and cultures, KVCL provides a vibrant workplace where employees soak in on the lush greenery and the facilities provided.
KVCL actively encourages locals to cultivate sugarcane with a buyback promise. Locals are also a part of a coconut-tree and mango-tree plantation drive, where close to 200, 000 trees have been planted to restore ecological balance.
Farmers live on KVCL’s farmlands, and bullock carts have been provided for transporting cane and compost.
KVCL has also constructed roads, drinking water facilities, borewells, and power-lines to make life easier for the society. Labor quarters, staff dormitories, medical centers, schools, market complexes and even recreation centers and open-air theaters have been constructed by KVCL for locals, thereby ensuring a harmonious work-life balance.
